The first hydrogen-powered train in North America

The first hydrogen-powered train in North America is offering a two-and-a-half-hour journey in central Quebec as a demonstration of the the potential of hydrogen as an alternative to diesel fuel in challenging railway environments.
The train, manufactured by Alstom, runs from Quebec City to Baie-Saint-Paul along the Train de Charlevoix route. Carrying up to 120 passengers, the hydrogen train emits only water vapor, contributing to decarbonization efforts in Quebec.
The train consumes approximately 50 kilograms of hydrogen per day, replacing around 500 liters of diesel fuel. This initiative aims to raise awareness and build confidence in hydrogen technology.
